primary vs secondary conditions

A shift in the structure of the spine (such as the two images right and below) can apply adverse pressure or tension to the spinal cord, nerves, joints and blood vessels. This is often the primary cause of many secondary conditions or symptoms.

Rather than treating symptoms (secondary conditions), which is like turning off the smoke alarm while the house burns down, our goal is to find and correct primary shifts in structure so the secondary issues can finally improve or resolve. Addressing the brain and nervous system directly while providing spinal care allows us a unique window into how the body is functioning.

Common secondary conditions

Some of the most common issues we see in our practice include:

  • ADD/ADHD
  • Arm Pain (Upper & Lower)
  • Asymmetry (Ex: Twisting, high/low shoulder, head tilt, etc.)
  • Bone Spurs
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Cervical Myelopathy
  • Degenerative Disc Disease
  • Degenerative Joint Disease
  • Digestive Conditions
  • Disc Herniation
  • Dizziness
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Chronic Pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches
  • Hip Pain
  • Jaw/TMJ Issues
  • Knee Pain
  • Lower Back Pain (Lumbar, Pelvis, Sacrum, Tailbone)
  • Middle back Pain (Thoracic)
  • Migraines
  • Muscular Imbalance
  • Neck Pain (Cervical)
  • Numbness/Tingling (Arms, Hands, Legs, Feet, Buttocks)
  • Pinched Nerve (Nerve Impingement Syndrome)
  • Pregnancy related issues
  • Posture-related Issues (including poor appearance)
  • Sciatica (Sciatic Nerve Issues)
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Spinal Canal Stenosis
  • Strength related Issues (Decreased grip strength)
  • Tendinitis
  • Tinnitus
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
  • Vertigo

Shifts in structure put pressure or tension (tone) on the spinal cord, nerves, joints and vessels.
